Reflecting on the journey so far
You know when you’re about to go into a situation you have an idea of how it’s going to go, and you have certain expectations… Then, you experience something completely beyond what you expected and it just makes you smile? Well, this is how this whole adoption things has gone for us so far. Here are just a few of the moments that are making us realize that we are learning way more about love and joy throughout this part of the journey than we ever thought possible:
The moment when one of your sister’s college friends chooses to support your adoption, and you didn’t even expect it.
The moment when someone you don’t even know and who lives in another state donates money and only knows about your campaign from your mother-in-law.
It’s when you receive an anonymous $50 donation, or an anonymous package in the mail filled with the girliest, sweetest, items.
Or when you run into your friend in the Giant Eagle parking lot and she gives you an amazing high chair to use and a Poppy painting done by an adoptive momma…. just because she loves us.
It’s the cards of encouragement from church friends and other dear friends, and the books loaned from another adoptive momma to encourage us.
It’s your cousin’s friend in another state who answers your questions about adoption quickly and cheers you on-the day of her own adoption finalization when I’m sure she was crazy busy.
…THOSE are the amazing things that I wasn’t expecting when we said “Yes” to the adoption journey.
I know we’ve only been a “waiting” family for a short time (about 3 weeks now), but since we let our small part of the world in on our adoption, we’ve been blessed beyond measure. Thanks for loving us and doing small and big things that showed us we are not alone during the wait- and that when the wait is over, our little girl is going to be so loved by the biggest village imaginable. Also, your excitement is making us even more excited and I didn’t think that was at all possible, because we are over the moon already.
I can’t wait until we get to introduce you to our little girl…. but until then, thanks for introducing us to an extra dose of love and care!
